Interview with Pierre Garroudi/ Fashion Flash Mob II

Ravensbourne2011 Interview - Pierre Garroudi from V-Films on Vimeo.

...and don't forget about the fashion Flash mob happening on Wednesdsay 8th June!

After the success of the last 'Red-Stopping' flash-mob, Pierre Garroudi is planning his second street catwalk, taking to some of London's most distinguished avenues with his cast of models and dancers.
This exciting campaign will showcase the 'Turquoise Collection'/Beauty of the Sea*** conveying an aesthetically pleasing experience of creatures born of a mystical island, lost at sea. Pierre's signature style is prominent through the hand-crafted intricacy formed through beautiful fabric manipulation; technically, its all about volume and texture.
Multi-layered matte and sheen silks become second skin to the wearer, portraying scales of reptilian kinds in all their beauty. Magnificent ruffled head pieces and elongated silhouettes are reflective to those of a mermaid, while luxuriously draped neck pieces represent secret ocean treasures.
Join Pierre on his sensational voyage on June 8th. The flash-mob of 20 models will kickstart the journey at 2PM from Pierre Garroudi gallery in London Bridge and will travel to Bond street using one of London's busiest tube lines, finally ending in the acclaimed area, Knightsbridge. Yet again, this will create huge hype with the intention to be even more engaging thana the first. Flash-mob II is a promising head-turner, this pulling surprises from his neatly sewn sleeve.

[Coverage] Pierre Garroudi Fashion Flashmob Goes Viral!

I hope everyone had a good Easter /Royal wedding weekend! Sorry for the delay in posting. It has been three weeks since Pierre showcased his Couture red collection around central London. The event was definitely a showstopper, causing roadblocks, hijacking the tube, train stations, passageways and even a pedal bike! We broke down the 'snobish' persona usually associated with luxury fashion and connected with what really matters. Which is? Creativity and FUN!

Wherever we went the cameras certainly followed, we cheered, the models struck their poses and the dancers entertained the crowds and kept the energy flowing.
My experience of the whole event was amazing!
To document this extravaganza in the most creative way possible we decided to put together a viral video. Call it Fashion Loves Music with a bit of a twist. Please check out the footage below, it will guarantee to have you shuffling!!

**Special thanks to: All Interns that helped out during the day, Models, Hair and Make-up artists, Dancers, Photographers and Videographers... plus all the crew that came along with us on the day!

Haute Couture fashion designer, Pierre Garroudi from East London, ambushed the streets of London with his pillar-box ‘Red-Stopping Collection’ on 21st April 2011. The head turning, crowd-pleasing performance featured 20 models and talented street dance performers - posing, pouting and winking from London Bridge to Trafalgar Square. The public was astounded by the creativity oozing from the collection “the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen on the tube.” The project created a phenomenal atmosphere, fresh and exciting, epitomising the sensual limitless powers of fashion.

Pierre Garroudi is the first fashion designer to use London as a catwalk, an innovative concept of a ‘flash mob’ providing a source of advertisement and brand awareness.

Pierre Garroudi for Unfolded Magazine

Pierre's Impressive Ivory collection has seen a new light with it recently being featured in issue: 2 of Unfolded Magazine. Proving that Pierre's collections continue to push the boundaries being timeless, ageless and trend-less if there is even such a word!

Check out the beautiful images shot on the beach below:

Pierre attends Dolce & Gabbana event

Last Thursday (31st March) Pierre attended the Dolce & Gabbana Dress Me Up party at the London, Bond Street store. The event saw successful fashion bloggers dress up the window displays of the store, while celebrities and guests mingled around canapés and alcoholic drinks.

It wouldn't be right if Pierre didn't stay true to his avant garde roots. Check out the photo of Pierre and  Maggie (intern/model) dressed in Blue and Pink from his previous collection.

Pierre also tells me he also met the gorgeous singer, Alexandra Burke who was also in attendance. I wonder what she thought of all of this?

Dark and Beautiful...Meet model Nala Diagouraga

What was very noticeable from Pierre's A/W 11 Royal collection  was a mixture of ethnicity's represented on the catwalk. As I am told by the stylist for the show the girls represented 'royalty' from different parts of the world. Personally I think it is refreshing to see a mixture of cultures represented in fashion and hope that many more designers follow suit.

But there was one particular model that caught my attention stand-out model Nala Diagouraga, 22, from Senegal/Mali in West Africa. An experienced but new face to modeling, Nala who lives in France started modeling back in 2008 for a friend. After her first couture show in 2010 she decided to make it a career the next day she signed with modeling agency Paris Slides and then later signed with London modelling agency Strike Model Management.

So far she in her career she has worked for top french designer Lanvin, Khaled el Masri, Martin Grant, Neil Barrett, Andrew Laurence, Alphadi Irakli Nasidzé and Thulare Monareng, appeared in French Grazia magazine to name a few.
London Fashion Week 2011 was very busy for Nala apart from walking the runway for our very own Pierre Garroudi, others designers included DTZ, Kirsty Ward, BodyAMR and Samantha Cole.

Nala says that her inspiration and passion comes from being able to express herself and play a role.
"I do get inspired by anyone in particular but more outfits and makeup that I wear during the shows or photo shoots. [when I am doing shows] I play a character, I [become] the style that they adopt and  love to detach myself from things..."

In terms of her future hopes, Nala says, " I like to make people happy that love and support me and also get into makeup artistry. I am a fan and I have lots of project in mind to follow."

Take a look at her eye-catching portfolio of work, Pierre plans to use Nala for his future photo and video shoot projects, so look out for more updates soon.

A round of applause for Pierre at Oxford Fashion Week

During the beginning of March Pierre participated in the Oxford Fashion Week from 28 Feb- 6 March 2011 in partnership with Oxford Thinking Campaign. The event which is held annually aims to strengthen the creative community in Oxford by bringing together designers, artists, musicians or even thinkers. Pierre showcased  pieces from various collections on the last day which was 'The Couture Show'. Other famous designers that showcased their collections were Valentino, Alexandra McQueen and Matthew Williamson.

The Couture show was a black-tie event and was well received by local press and was even featured on Vogue.co.uk.
It was safe to say that Pierre's pieces were the most exciting pieces of the night, receiving the loudest applause says Zoe Lower (fashion and beauty photographer). For Pierre it was a great networking opportunity for him to get his brand noticed.The event sparked further interest from one of the main fundraisers Pierre says;
"They really loved it and applauded, they liked it so much that director of the fundraising campaign has showed interest to get involved  in other projects. Once the project becomes clear we will let you know."

Well done Pierre!

Our thoughts are with Japan!

Pierre and interns take a moment from their work to reflect on those that lost their lives from the recent earthquake/tsunami that happened in Sendai, Japan on the 11th March.
